The influencer stepdaughter of regional Mexican artist Luis Ángel 'El Flaco' died after she was swept by a current at a beach in the resort town of Mazatlán.
María Fernanda Robles, 21, and a male friend went out for a swim Monday at 4:40 am in Cerritos Beach.
A female friend rescued the man, but was not as fortunate with Robles.
Mazatlán cops were unable to locate Robles' body, which ended up washing ashore hours later.
Authorities were able to identify the young woman's body during the day.

Robles had posted an image of a shark and a photo with her female friend on Instagram stories several hours before she drowned.
News of Robles' tragic death was revealed by Luis Ángel 'El Flaco,' who urged his fans to be extra cautious when going out.
'There are people who have the joy of saying, 'It was a scare, had a crash and I came out unharmed,' he said on an Instagram livestream.
'Here's a wake-up call, 'Tone it down and you will live life more calmly.' There are many people who enjoy that second, third, fourth, fifth chance, but there are people who don't. As I tell you, my daughter didn't get that second chance.'
The heartbroken former vocalist with the popular Banda de los Recoditos group used his experience with close calls and Robles' drowning as why young people should value their lives more because second chances are never guaranteed.
'We have all been young, I too was young at the time and I felt that life was not going to end for me … I had a lot of things but life gave me more opportunities and I'm still here,' Luis Ángel 'El Flaco said.
'But it is not so with everyone. My daughter didn't get another chance. My daughter wasn't a single scare, my daughter left and she left an emptiness here … I don't know how long it will last to be able to half understand what is happening.'

Luis Ángel 'El Flaco met Robles when she was just two years old and accepted her as his own daughter after he married her mother, Maricruz Robles.
The former couple are parents to two other children, Ángela, 19, and Luis, 13.
Although Luis Ángel 'El Flaco divorced Maricruz Robles 10 years ago, he maintained a close bond with María Fernanda Robles and supported her in many ways.
Flores was a cosmetology student and had more than 31,000 followers on Instagram.
Her most recent post on the social media network was on May 20 when she shared two pictures of herself posing on a boat and a video of the vessel in the middle of the sea with a caption that read, 'Free and wild.'
