Ghbase is picking up information that the young woman, Safina Diamond, who was on trial for the murder of her Canadian boyfriend, is dead.

This information has also been confirmed by a reputable news outlet, Ghanaweb. It is said that she took her own life in her room, and a disturbing image of her hanging has circulated on social media.

However, there are some people on social media, led by the popular anonymous blogger ThoseCalledCelebs, who believe that her death is fake.

They argue that it is a ploy to avoid facing trial for her crime. These sceptics question the authenticity of her demise and suggest that she may have been secretly taken out of the country to evade imprisonment and protect her accomplices.

This school of thought believes that until concrete evidence is presented, such as a lifeless body with identifiable features, these claims of her death may be considered potentially fabricated.

Background

Safina Mohammed Adizatu, aka Safina Diamond, was arrested in 2022 on charges of fatally stabbing her boyfriend in the neck and stomach.

The incident occurred shortly after her boyfriend’s return from Canada to Ghana. Safina claims that her actions were in self-defence. In the accompanying video, she can be seen being escorted to court alongside her accomplice.

Safina, during the committal proceedings in August 2022, told the District Court that: “I am innocent. At the time of the incident, I was not in the house, but near the area, making calls.”  Safina told the District Court, presided over by Lucy Adade, that a bag tendered by the prosecution as part of the exhibits, belonged to her and she filled same with drinks.  According to her, the bag was not found in Michael Arku’s room in Kumasi.

The court was informed by the State, under the leadership of Nana Ama Adinkra, a State Attorney, that a total of nine witnesses will be called to testify in the trial before the High Court.

One of these witnesses is Michael Fiifi Ampofo Arku, who was previously held as an accomplice but has been discharged by the District Court based on the recommendation of the Attorney General.

The state attorney also mentioned that a total of 31 exhibits will be presented during the trial.

These exhibits include an autopsy report, five large dog chains, cello tape, four padlocks with 10 keys, a cutter, a pair of gloves, three knives, and various investigation caution statements made by the accused person.

Here’s a footage of when she was first arrested:
